kubota engine block

/ kubota engine block #2
Hello
You will find it is cast iron.
Anytime you want to check for cast iron use a hammer and chisel.
Cast iron won't form a chip when tou try to slice a small corner with the chisel.

there are quite a few methods of CI block repair.. depending on the damge.

anything from furnace brazing, welding with special rods, welding with preheat and extended cooling and tapping for stress relief, even plain old brazing..

I can't help you much on the engine block welding except to tell you the block is cast iron. There was a place in Phx years back called "Arizona Motor Welding" that used to do cast iron welding with fairly good results, might see if they are still in business and close enough to ship part to or? BTW, If you end up not being able to fix the engine are you interested in selling parts / complete tractor? I have a L225 that I am babying along and have always thought it would be nifty to convert to 4 WD. Good luck with your project, hope it is repairable. David.
