I installed a new head/valves all completely new on my Kubota BX24. It runs and starts well but the tractor is much loader then what is was. The new noise seems to come from air filter area. Not the exhaust. When I first start it it seems normal but once it gets to temp. is when I hear the new noise. I have run it less then an hour after I did the install but it seems to be getting worse. All the new parts are Kubota parts. The head came complete with the valve guides and other parts installed. The valves/springs etc. were not installed. I lapped the valves as required and the install of the valves seemed to go normally . I gapped the valves as required by Kubota. I’m at a loss at this point so any input would be greatly appreciated. Maybe it’s nothing to worry about but is not what I’ve experienced sense I bought it new in 08. The reason for the head replacement is I had a blown gasket and when I pulled the head we noticed a small crack at the point near where the middle injector. All three cylinders were filled with coolant. So I’m trying to give enough info. It’s hard to explain the noise but it’s like what you would expect from exhaust but coming from the air intake. Thanks

I would check your valve lash again, if the intake is too tight it can give you the symptoms you described.
Cam and fuel timing can also cause it but those shouldn't have been changed with a head R&R.

Anytime there may have been coolant in a cylinder, piston height should be checked to check for a bent rod.

You are correct. It was the the valves and turned out that the way I originally adjusted the valves was not correct. Just finished doing it correctly, as a pair and problem solved. Originally, I set the flywheel at T/OC and gapped all the valves. This time I gapped them as a pair and problem solved. Thanks for responding

anytime a head is changed you have to make sure the same thickness head is installed and the same thickness head gasket. if the head was a recon head and milled you need to get the correct thickness head gasket, or shim the injectors so they are at their correct height as before the work was done. otherwise the injectors wil not have the correct spray pattern,
