Maybe buying a small part of Deere's consumer line, possible.

Don't have any stats to back up what I'm about to say but I'm pretty sure even though kubota rules the roost here on TBN I don't think you can compare the 2 companies, Deere is a gigantic global heavy equipment manufacturer. Doubt there are many entities that could make a play for JD, especially in these uncertain financially times.

This site started as a Kubota site. Just remember Case/New Holland is nunber 2 to Deere and by some measures number 1.

There were some press releases a couple of years ago that Case/New Holland was the worlds largest ag equipment manufacturer.

They say that Kubota was the high bidder for Ford/New Holland back in the early 90's but Ford sold to FIAT instead(car people said it would be hard to bash the Japanese MFG's in the morning and praise them in the afternoon)----cause car people do business with car people------I would not be surprised to see FIAT spin off New Holland and keep the CASE/International Division----The Industrial Division is in a world of hurt in this environment----But what is $5 Billion among friends!!!

I have it on good authority that Deere plans a cash purchase of Kubota using the change that Deere customers spill getting in and out of their vehicles at Deere dealerships.

I could see Deere selling off part of its business in these hard times but I do not see the incentive Kubota would have to buy any part of deere.

Agree. The culture of Kubota would have nothing to do with buying up other companies. They clearly prever to home grow their products.

Now Deere on the other hand clearly does not mind buying other peoples stuff and painting it Green... but Kubota... come on.

Moot point anyway, as Deere most likely isn't looking to "unload" any part of their company. So you think there's a major flaw in Deere's business philosophy? I sure don't see one. They haven't reached (and stayed at) the top of the heap by making bad business decisions.

The Bigger they are the harder they fall-----Just ask GM----who would have thought in the 60's and 70's that they would not change to meet the demands of the times-----don't think for a minute that others can't fail----however JD has done a good job of buying stuff from other companies cheaper than they could build it THEMSELVES----Re badging and collaboration among companies is part of the NEW WORLD ORDER!!!----and it is all about marketing and we know who does the best job in the US in that department----if you don't have the best product advertise it as the best and people will believe!!!!!!-----just ask Wal Mart------
