On my 1700 the throttle tension keeps working loose. It only has the hand throttle -- no foot pedal.. I have to tighten it about every other time I use the tractor. When it gets loose the engine speed will drop if I don't hold the throttle lever with my hand.. There are 2 nuts and a washer that hold the lever to the housing. Maybe there is something missing. Anyone else have this problem?

With 2 nuts, it should not come loose. one nut adjusts tension, the other locks the first in place. It requires 2 wrenches to tighten.

I don't think the nuts are vibrating loose. I wonder if there issupposed to be a teflon disk like on the the 3 point lever?

I agree that there should be a friction washer in the setup. Would also suggest to use an elastic lock nut which is easier to use than two std nuts.

There is a friction washer. Check out Hoye tractor web site for parts breakdown. I need one too for my throttle and 3ph as they both vibrate down very slowly.

I think you may have nailed it. I don't recall seeing the friction disc. I will compare the diagram to the tractor tomorrow. I have to disc a garden tomorrow and it would be nice to not have to fight with it.

Thanks for your help everyone

Your friction washer probably fell apart . That's what happened to mine .I replaced it last week.

AS it turns out the friction washer was the issue. Someone had replaced the friction washer with a piece of inner tube cut to roughly the same dimension as the washer. The main problem was it was had a split across the hole letting it slip out of place.

The original was rubber similar to inner tube material. The replacement part is a hard washer.
