Going to be starting on this tomorrow. Talked to guys about doing the earthwork tonight. One quoted me $1500. Another said $800. I've had the $800 guy do work before, so I'm going with him. He said to go ahead and cut any trees I wanted. So I'm doing that tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing what you do. How big are you going to make it?

Which way do you think this tree leans?

I've always read to move everything more than the height of the tree away before you cut because you never know.
My dad is 70,been cutting trees his whole life. I'm 40 and done my fair share. This tree defied everything we both knew and fell perpendicular to my cuts. We were trying to muscle it to fall the way we wanted with wedges and I guess that made all the difference.

After talking things over with dad, we've decided to have the barn built instead of doing it ourselves. He says he's too old.

Finger still black and blue, but doesn't hurt much.

Got some more done this evening, despite the rain earlier in the day.

Since I got my backhoe.....I have never cut a tree down. I dig on 3 or 4 sides as needed, then push it where I want it to go.

I have a hoe for my tractor, but it just isn't bug enough. I have a guy coming next week with a backhoe to pull the stumps and level out the building site.

I hope the finger heals fast!

get the right supplies, necessary wood and the roof. Most pool barn roofs are made from metal roofing since they are inexpensive, easy to install and long lasting. Shingles is another option

Got all the stone in and smoothed out today.
They were going to start on the building yesterday but I wasn't ready. So they had to put me off for a couple of weeks. It rained a lot last week so I had to wait for it to dry out.
