ok, need opinion.
Looks like I scratched the piston on my 49cc, 18" bar Craftsman.
I see grooves when I take the exhaust off and ring looks damaged too.

Worth fixing, might need a new clamshell, piston and ring?

Anyone know cost for parts?

I already have 2 saws and this was a backup for a while.
Not heavily used for the last 3 years. So surprised it self destructed.
Only if you have another parts saw to steal from or get on the cheap to make a good one from.

I wont put the money into new parts on plastic clamshell saws that can be bought for 50 running myself.
I also explain this to folks bringing them in it is not worth the labor cost and parts cost.
Cheaper to sell them another runner for 50.

Yep, I junked my Craftsman (Red cover one) last year due to cylinder damage. Bought a Ryobi from Direct tools.com for $69! It's great actually!

Here's one from there now (just quickly looked to see what they had available)

I tried it when it was the old original formula. Then they cheapened it by changing formula but keeping the ridiculous high price. Ester was part of the change. They removed it. It is also semi synthetic.
It's good FD rated oil but IMHO it just cost to darn much. IMO it is over hyped.

I like this 100% synthetic VPracing oil better then high priced RA. IMO VP a better oil and way cheaper to buy too.

IMO just try and use FD rated oils. The have everything in them.

FB corresponds to high lubricity performance but without any low-smoke technology.

FC meets the FB lubricity standards but also is a low-smoke lubricant.

FD corresponds to higher detergency properties than the other two grades, meets the lubricity requirements and has low smoke requirements.

Both of those bars are good bars. Tsu and Sugi. Bar rails are great.

I buy Tsu due to the better pricing. Sugi has more rivets in their tips.

US sugi makes their light weight bars for husky. Overseas Tsu makes their light weight bars for husky.

I smiled more for the bar cover for the wall over the 670 champ.

Saw needs some fixing for the pro side ext score. Piston kit and cylinder clean up is what I am hoping for.

Stihl 039.

What a cluster
emoji12.png

Guy loaned stihl 039 out to one of his workers. Looked like been trenching.

Fixed the broken recoil and removed the boot lace used to try and fix part of that and broken handle.

Missing tank vent so made one up.

Somehow it sheared the key off the flywheel and the flywheel nut is stripped out and wont come off. Just spins. :ROFLMAO:

Just bringing this up I never owned one or had any desire to get one . However maybe one of you old timers would remember probably in mid 80"s Echo came out with a twin cylinder saw . I think it was a CST 610 model aka the Evil Twin. A friend of mine had one in "yellow" sold as a John Deere .
I think he said both cylinders fired on same stroke , it had little vibration and was a bit heavy . I would imagine I don't remember if they came with a "decompression button " . Just alittle chainsaw " reminisce " here on xyz123' s thread .

I have never seen or heard of a twin cylinder chainsaw.

I wonder why it never caught on, it looks like she's a runner...

After all back together and pulling over something didnt feel right on 039 and wouldnt start. Backfired once. So starting checking.

They had sheared the key molded into flywheel. Then the fly nut stripped all its thread sand wouldnt come off. Fun fun s o b

I had to cut the freaking nut and use chisel too. Finally off. Some of the crank threads are fubarred too.

I ran a 2 friends twins in solo 100cc 110cc and echo twin.

The echo I pass on around here. Nothing to write home about. Just a heavy 60cc.

Now that solo twin was sweet.
