Is it possible to jump a glow plug? Can you use jump pack and hook negative to engine block and postive to the glow plug to get them hot?

Thanks,
Joel

interesting concept- never heard of it being done, but why would you need to do that ? Only thing I seen is youtube showing how to test the glowplugs out of the engine with battery.

I have "hot wired" glowplugs from a tractor's own battery a few times. In instances of a faulty key switch or similar problem, I can get the tractor running and moved to a more suitable place to do a proper repair. I've been known to run a jumper wire to a fuel shutoff solenoid for similar reasons. Something about working in severe conditions when it's unnecessary becomes less appealing as the years pass.

You would be better off to use some 10ga wire and a switch that is only on when pushed called a "momentary on".

I don't hardwire them. I disconnect the glowplugs when the heat cycle is complete. A jumper wire with alligator clips is all I use. 'Momentary on' in a different fashion.
