John Deere AMT 622 problems

I bought a used John Deere AMT 622 . It idles for a min then stats puttering out. When I drive it I can not go full speed, it dies down to a much slower speed. I though it was perhaps the muffler clogged up but after taking it off it still did the same. I have changed the oil and the spark plug. I am also having a hard time puttin it into forward, lots of grinding. Do I need a clutch. Anythought thanksZ

Sounds like a fuel problem. Did it sit for a while? Might be bad gas and varnish in the carb or fuel pump or tank or filter. Start by disconnecting a fuel line and see if you can get good flow. (a filter might be a good idea just on general principals)

Sounds like your choke isn't opening up fully or at all.

Hey thanks. I changed fuel filter, changed all oils, new air filters, soaked and cleaned carb, adjusted carb. Worked well up until my kids lost key. I bought new ignition switch and key but it didn't come with a wiring diagram. No clue how to hook up. Any ideas?
