John deere alternator wiring

I just bought a used 04 2210 and the wires out of the alternator were taped together (connector was cut off) tape came off and rubbed frame and after putting meter on it..its toast ..my question is ...How do I know what wire goes where? There is a stripe on the green wire going from the wiring harness but both wires on alternator are green..I ordered a new alternator so It will have the connector on it. if I knew what wire coming out of the harness went where ....thanks

Like everyone else is about to tell you, you need to get a service manual. The schematics will have the color codes and the manual usually shows the connectors and pin outs. If not the alternators are usually marked on them.

The 2210 uses a dynamo type of alternator. It puts out AC voltage. It won't matter which way the wires go in the connector at the alternator.
