Loader john deere 455

I recently bought a 1996 455 with a bucket and 54 inch mower deck. The owner had never used the mower deck with the bucket attached. Im wondering if I can run the mower without having to remove the bucket attachment. Kind of new into this whole tractor game so any advice would be much appreciated. thanks

Better late answer than never I suppose. Yes, you can use both at the same time but it is tricky. The hydraulics that lift the mower are the same that raise the bucket. Raise the bucket and lock the valve that should be located under the left hand floor board on one of the lines into the hydro block. Just make sure it's raised high enough to clear obstacles but not so high it could upset the tractor.
