John Deere 180

What's the word on a John Deere 180 riding lawnmower. I know the 17hp Kawasaki is a great engine but how about the mower itself (38" deck)? Is it worth $700 (w/ mulcher kit). Don't know hours but it appears to be in nice shape. Need a small mower for around the house.

Too late. Looks like it sold. I had a feeling it would go quick. I'm curious to know if this was a good deal and good little mower if anyone has input.

The 180 was a manual transmission where the 185 is hydro. If I recall correctly, they came with a 14HP Kawa, but it's been a while since I owned one.

They are tough machines and a decent deal for US$700. I have two 170s (one is a 175) now with the 14HP Kawa that I bought for little of nothing. Great small mower, but that is all one will do is mow.

It was a gear driven, 17HP model. Guess I should have bought it. Coulda', shoulda', woulda'...the creed of the indecisive.
