One item i noticed about the 2210 is the joystick location; beside the seat, not on the FEL bracket. Seems like a plus...

Based on what I saw today, I'd say it should be called a "SUB-SUB Compact" or a "Garden Tractor on Steroids". I'd like to hear from folks who have one and what they have really tested it with.

Don't get me wrong - I was impressed with it but I do not feel that it would be ideal for large projects on larger amounts of acreage. The local JD dealer here in MN who had the unit in the showroom said that a majority of sales have come from 3-5 acre homeowners who are looking for the 'capability' of a large-frame tractor (not really here but it looks that way) in the 'economy' of a smaller garden tractor unit.

Don't get me wrong - I was one of those people who bought a 10 acre parcel with a house and labored with a garden tractor for quite some time. However - when I needed help I had to go out and have the local farmer come in with his bobcat and backhoe and do work. It wasn't practical to use the garden tractor with a snowblower, etc., for my work - I finally broke down and bought a 4600 JD with the right implements (price is about 1.7x of the 2210) - but now I don't have any of these issues anymore and I'm much happier. It's a much better use of my time overall... I just don't believe the 2210 would cut it for me.

However - as the local dealer put it - it's ideal for the smaller acreage people who arn't looking to do anything big. They only need to do a bit of dirt/snow moving, cut grass, etc. The 2210 is perfect for them. But the price does seem steep though if you are only dealing with that size acreage.

I'd be interested to hear what others have to say. It was a cute tractor but I'm still glad I got my 4600.

I guess just about every compact looks "cute" next to your 4600. The 2210 would never even pretend to compare to a B7500 or 4110, let alone a 4600. It's not intended to compete with those machines. Just to offer a contrary opinion, it's perfect for 7 to 10 acres of non-agricultural work when a high percentage of mowing, landscaping, and light materials handling is involved--which is why I bought one. The 2210 is not an earthmover and a 4600 would be a waste of money for me with my 7+ acres unless I was using the tractor commercially in addition to my work.

There is room for other needs between your large frame CUT and a garden tractor. The 2210 is a wee bit bigger than the BX dimensionally and by HP specs, and it has a few specs that are greater than the 4010 with the exception of the hydraulic flow volume. If you believe the BX is a sub-compact, then the 2210 is too. If you are from the old school that doesn't see the huge market in between lawn mowers and utility tractors, then you are in the same trap that kept JD from capturing the HUGE small compact/sub-compact market over the last 5 years.

I'll certainly be posting about my 2210 when it arrives in a month, or so.

Pete -

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the 2210 after you've worked with it for a bit. Good luck with your new purchase!
