Hi Yellowsocks

Do I understand correctly that you work at a JD dealer ??

Do you know what the difference is between the backhoes offered for the compact tractors ? Why is there a specific model for the 990 ? Wouldn't any of the 3 pt backhoes work with any tractor ? Why is the 48 backhoe listed for the 4000 series, and the other xxxxB listed for a 990 ?

For what it's worth, here's a copy of a maintenance log I made in Excel from the electronic manual for the 990 on the Deere web site. I printed it on 11x17 and will fill it in as I go.

Yep I do work for a JD dealer but I work work in shop washing tractors and what have you. I think the main reason they have seperate hoes is for the fact that the 990 is really just a new 970/1070 tractor which used the 8b hoe. The 4000 series compacts were designed to have the new 47 and 48 backhoes on them. Otherwise JD would have had to modify the mounting frame to fit a 990 or make some sort of kit and not many people buy a hoe for the 990 in the first place. Also the 990 may not have enough GPM at the hydraulics.
