My folks are moving and I have been told that I am getting the 855, snowblower, finish mower and some misc attachments. I found the basic specs at http://www.tractordata.com/td/td130.html.

What I will be using it for is brush hogging, finish mowing, dragging trees, snowblowing, hay bale moving and other light duty stuff. So how capable is this little tractor for the above listed duties.

I will have to buy a brush mower so the question is what is the largest one that it can handle and how do I figure that out.

Last of the questions that I can think of is about a fel what model number am I looking for and the price range that it is going to cost.

I can not complain about free I just hope that it will be able to do everything that I want.

The 855 is a great tractor but you will be limited by horsepower and weight. I would recommend a 48 inch bush hog if you have any heavy cutting. You will definitely need front weights. You say you want to move hay bales but don't say if they are round bales or small square bales or how you intend to move them. Most round bales are very heavy and would probably be a struggle for the 855. The john deere 70 loader would fit this tractor. Deere does not make any current model loader to fit, but there are lots of outside manufacturers that do. Rear ballast will be a must with front loader.

So for the light duty stuff it will be just fine. Moving and positioning large round bales it will not be able to do that. So somewhere down the road I will have to get a larger tractor. Thanks for the info.

The JD 855 will run a 5' brush hog with no problem. I ran a 5' brush hog on my JD 755. You want the cut to be wider than your wheels. If you got into something really heavy to cut you would just need to go a little slower.

The 855 is a great tractor. I had one for over 12 years. Mine ran my 5' foot Woods Bush Hog with no problems at all. I did a lot of heavy duty Cutting with that tractor. I am still using the same bush hog for my 3720. So my Woods bush Hog is now running on it's 3rd tractor owned by me.... and maybe at least two tractors before me... because I bought it used for $500.00 from a guy down the road.... And believe me it has had it's share of abuse and it is still running great....

So yes, your 855 will handle the 5' Rotary Cutter no Problem!!!!
