JD 750b

I'm going to look at a JD 750b on Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Other than the normal U/C concerns are there any issues with these dozers. He stated that the dozers has new pads and rails and some new rollers as well. I'm not sure about the paint. I'd rather see it without a new paint job though. From the sound of it even though it was listed for sale by owner it sounds like he buys them and fixes them and resells them. I had actually called him about a different dozer. But, he did inform me that it needed new pads and rails on the right side. He said the ones on the left were in good shape. But, if I was still interested in it he would fix it for $2000.00 more than he had it listed for. So, I was wondering what your thoughts on this 750b were.

I bought a 1988 Deere 750B and it has been OK. I have spent a number of hours working out the bugs. Parts are pretty high, but that's bulldozers and I was warned. Deere seems to be a good brand to own.

Don't take what any dealer tells you at face value for the U/C. Find the track specs online and take a micometer with you and compare the specs. Pull oil samples as well. I imagine your talking about over a $10k investment. Do you have the ability to work on heavy equipment? I.e. 3/4 or 1" drive sockets? 3/4 or 1" impact gun? Torch? Welder? If you answer no, you better have a way to get access to them. Just my 2 cents after pulling the U/C out from under a JD 550 this weekend.
