JD 5525 Adding Air Ride Seat

I want to add an air ride seat to my 5525. My dealer is saying it can't be done.

What is the deal?

Anybody add one?

I have a 5520 and wonder if the slope of the platform is an issue. Seems to me the 5525 had that seat as an option on the cab model.

What model 5525 do you have? If it is a cab or IOOS(isolated open operators station), it should bolt right in. If is a straddle mount, fabrication would be needed, not to mention the cushions on air ride seat are cloth, so they would need protecting from the elements on open tractors. .

I am going to ask again, but a different person.

I am going to be up there when they are working on my "new" JD 346 baler. So I will ask the guys in the back what the real story is on it.

Here's a different thought..go to the Deere parts homepage and look at a parts book with expanded views. That will tell you what fits and where. As well, it will show pictures so you can maybe figure it out. If no dice, you could call an aftermarket seat maker to see if one is available or not and why or why not. They would likely know more than the dealer and probably built the seat for JD.

I have learned most of the "nope, can't do it" answers in life have more to do with people who give up too easy or from those looking to influence others for whatever reason. Just my two cents.

Maybe I should buy a 5105M and hand the 5525 to my wife.

'Cause the manager and the sales folk's 9 outta 10 times go right to the shop foreman or one of the experienced mechanics with the "rephrased" question that you just asked...
