JD 4500

Saw one of these recently and it might exactly fit the specs I'm looking for. One big question though - it was only made in 1999 according to tractortips.com. Does anyone know anything about why such a limited run? Also, does anyone know if there were/are any known common issues with this particular model?? Thanks as always.

My neighbor has one. Has over 1200 hours on it with nary a problem. He has the Syc Reverser FEl and hoe. Hope this helps. It was replaced by the 4510. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The 4500 was built from very late 98 through 2000
the 2000 gear drive serial numbers began at 350,001 and up

the power reverser year 2000 began at #352001.

The hundred series was Deere first step away from its tried and true X55 series (655,755,855,955). There were quite a few issues with the first ones but all problems were corrected with mandatory product improvements. If you can get the serial numbers for it, I can let you know what has been done to this machine.

I had bought a new JD4500 in 1999 with the JD FEL. It was the power reverser (or whatever they call it) model. I really liked the tractor and it had great power with the loader. The only issue I had on it was that the rear 3pt hitch kept bleeding off. That was fixed under warranty and I had no other issues with it at all in the approx. 200 hours I had it.

I was able to get the serial number - #354167. Hope your still out there and will be able to check this out. Thanks. Seems the 4500 went for a couple of years at least - 99 thru either 01 or 02.
