JD 445 Fuel Odor

My fuel injected, Kawi engined, 445 tractor gives off a strong smell of gasoline immediately after being shut off. I routinely throttle down just before turning it off so I assume it's not (normally) shooting excess fuel that's not burned in time, but that could be a wrong assumption. I don't see any visible gas leaks. The tractor starts, idles and runs as it should otherwise. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Many of the newer gasoline engines have an electric solenoid in the carburetor. When you turn off the engine it kills the spark but also shuts off the fuel to prevent engine overrun. Perhaps your shutoff solenoid (if you have one) is defective or sticking.

Could possibly be the pressure release screw on the throttle body.. that wasn't snugged back up after releasing the pressure (done when running out of fuel) and leaks a small bit of fuel.

OK this is confusing, is this engine a Diesel or gas ?

If a JD 445, it is gas fuel injection. The JD 455 is diesel.
