JD 413 Rotary Cutter - maintenance ?

Hi, Last fall I bought a 770 and one of the implements with it was a JD 413 brush hog. I tried finding some info on line or even a manual but I can't.

I am looking for what maintenance I should do before I use it (gear box oil change? What weight & type of oil) and any info on how to set it up for use would be great.

My Cousin Vinnie found me an old 403 a few years ago that was ready for the scrap heap. After I bought Vinnie enough beer he heated, pounded, bent, tacked, and scabbed it back together. Other than check that it actually had gear box oil in it I haven't done anything to it. I thought the joy of buying a used rotary cutter was in beating the crap out of it without maintenance, guilt, or remorse. Are you actually supposed to take care of them? I have seen so many that are badly neglected and they seem to continue to function. Of course I would never treat any of my other implements that way......I'm glad I didn't get a new one.

What he said, check the oil would be about it. If ya need to add, use your favorite flavor of 90wt oil.

Slip clutch ?, you'll want to burn the rust off beginning each season.
