JD 3005/790 Stabilizer Chains

Anyone know of an aftermarket replacement for the stabilizer chains on a 3005/790 tractor? I love my tractor, but the design of these chains is a bad one IMO. I'm around several other tractors with different designs that are much more trouble free (including other JD's).

Mine constantly rust preventing adjustment without soaking in penatrating oil. Anyone else having these problems? Other than this issue, my 2010 has been an awesome tractor!

I haven't seen a replacement for the anti-sway chains anywhere. I'm surprised you're having problems with rust though. They're plated (zinc or cadmium, I think).
I had those on both my old 670 Deere and 790 Deere.

I'm thinking they may not be OEM...unless you bought the tractor new.

Anyway, when you get 'em cleaned up, spray them with Fluid Film a few times a year.

I would throw the chains away and look for telescoping stabalizer bars.

I had a 790 and was not too fond of the chains set-up either. I lost a pin on mine to cause some damage.....and replacement JD parts cost me significantly. Still....mine never siezed up due to corrosion.

The telescoping stabilizers on the 3320 are so much nicer. :thumbsup:

Thanks for the replies. The chains are original OEM (I bought the tractor new). I've attached a pic from the owners manual.

DK, I'm interested in the telescoping bars. Any idea where to purchase these?
