JD 300 series loaders

I own a 3520 with a 300x Loader also. If I think about it the dealer was probably the reason I wound up with it. He didnt take the time to explain the differences and he didnt have a 300cx so I could compare. Far as resale I dont give a hoot about that. If I ever get another tractor I will use it to bury this one because it will be used up. The 300x is perfectly adequate for my use and theres no use to cry over spilled milk.

I'd love the 110 but I can't afford that and it's also way too much machine for my property. I really feel the 3320 with the 300x and 447 backhoe will be more than enough for anything I may need. I really researched this before I purchased and considering I was locked on getting a NH TC30 this JD is definatly a step up. I'm sure I'll be happy with my choice. I looked at your pics
and was impressed with the stumps the hoe was removing. I appreciate all the feedback I've recieved. Now I have to decide what type of trailer to get. I'm torn between a 5k flatbed and a 7k dump trailer. I'll be posting that in the trailer discussion forum.

Based on the info jason just posted I would be more inclined to stand your ground with the salesperson - You are the customer you need to dictate the options you choose to have. It sounded like the dealer wasnt letting you choose - The choice of walking away and going elsewhere needs to be carefully explained to this sales person or his manager. Those are significant numbers of performance you will be leaving on the table - and that will directly effect any resale value later on if that is the route you take. Folks will have done their homework and ask about the loader model. If you settle you will be thinking about the could have/ should have later on. You can count on that.....

Hello all, this is my first post on this site. I'm happy to be here. With that said I recently purchased a 3320 with a new 300x loader. I inquired about the 300cx loader(the one I really wanted). The dealer I'm getting it from said the 300x is the best match for the machine. I don't entirely buy that as JD wouldn't make it an option if it will damage the tractor. I think he just didn't want to swap the loaders as he arealy had the 300x on the machine. Since I'm new to this.I like your opinions on this matter. I also plan on adding a 448 hoe in the spring. I'm going to be using this machine to move about 10 large rocks and then doing some landscaping. I did research this before I made the purchase but I want to ensure I picked the right machine for the job.

after reading your post - your clearly state its the one you wanted, you did your research, and you asked for opinions. In you post it already sounded full of second guesses.
You got excellent reponses from jason that included actual performance specs.

The facts that your missing on are that the tractor was used. The tractor had 46 hours on it. The dealer put the new 300x loader on as a sales feature. It was already on the machine when I purchased it. I read the fine print in the JD catalog and noticed the different loader attchments. The I tried to change the deal. I completely understand the dealers point of view. We had already made the deal and I wanted to change the terms. After talking more to him I found that he was trying to get the cx loader for me but that it wasn't possible by delivery date. I should point out that the dealer is out of state and was extremely flexable and reasonable. I called my local dealer about swaping the loaders for the difference. His responce was what I expected. He wanted to give me nothing for the unused x and full price for the cx. The funny thing is, his attitude and unprofesionalness was the reason I bought elsewhere. On the bright side there's another JD dealer a little further away that has been great to deal with. I haven't asked yet but I suspect he'll do the swap. I know I'll be happy with either loader.

You as the buyer always have the final say - buyer remorse as they say. Delivery dates are something both participants agree to. Its not something that gets forced down ones throat. Squeeky wheel gets the grease in the end.

Ohhhhhhh..... now I see... you didn't tell us it wasn't a new tractor... I was wondering why the heck the dealer was so stubborn on the loader.. now I know why....

That's why in the first post I made I stated the tractor had a new loader. Not trying to decive anyone just wasn't convied to you as clearly as it should have been. The dealer asked me what other implements I wanted before the purchase. That's when I noticed the big differences in the loaders. I really wanted the capability to run skid steer attachments with the loader. And since the cx is designed for that ,thats when I realized I wanted the cx. However the remark that prompted this post was the x loader was the right size for the machine. If the dealer hadn't said that I probably wouldn't have started this thread. Jason you have made some very good points about the CX and I agree with you 100%. I just needed to here my feeling about the CX backed up by folks who are a little more tied in to the CUT world. My other concern is if I get the CX I'm going to over work the machine since the loaders capacitys seem they'll do. But if I ever decide to upgrade with in the 3000 series I'll have the right loader to do it.

As to skid steer uses, I figure just about all tha advantage of using skid steer attachments is lost due to their substantial increase in weight. Not nearly the issue on a 400 as the 300 loaders.

It's a pain to get up in the seat and off. Since you can't spin the tractor seat around like a real TLB, you have to get on and off the tractor and backhoe alot. The "step" they provide in the backhoe frame is useless, at least on my tractor (with the large R4 tires), because it is obstructed by the tires.

When switching from front to rear, I never touch the ground. I grab onto the ROPS and run over the rear tire to get to the back and vice versa. My wife uses the backhoe a lot and came onto the same technique all on her own.

Dang Mike, I just happened to pop back into this thread by accident and darn if I didn't learn another trick. Sounds good, I'll have to give that a try
