JD 290 Planter

I have a chance to pick up a JD 290 two row corn planter. Just want a corn planter to plant small food plots for deer and other critters. Is this a good candidate or should I keep looking? Parts easy to find? etc. What should I look for as far as condition is concerned? Other thoughts appreciated.

Go to your local JD dealer. ask parts man about parts avaliability for the 290. then ask the service dept about the other question's you have.

Yes......that's a thought......but hoping to find knowledgable opinions here.....a bit easier than driving 30 miles to not give the dealer any business. Would be a good check and balance b/4 buying. Thanks.
