JD 2520 repair after ending up in the water.

That engine IS a Yanmar. AFAIK, John Deere doesn't make a single part in that engine. I could be wrong but I don't think so. Not a JD kind of guy so don't take my word for it.
Tractordata shows JD compact 2520 has a Yanmar 81.2 cid engine & you're correct JD outsourced that engine & all it's parts from Yanmar.

Hi My JD 2520 compact ended up in te water :( so rods are bend due water in the engine and water not very compressible :(.

Engine is 3TNV82A BMJK but it's really tough to find parts. I can find JD parts which are hard to get by in the Netherlangs but I would think Yanmar parts should fit as well. Drawings of all the 3TNV82A variants are similar but its impossible to find the BMJK version in Yanmar parts catalogs.

Be sure to triple check all measurements on Yanmar parts you may cross reference. While I’m not certain about the engine on a JD 2520, I do know that the earlier 50’s tractors were build by Yanmar to JD specs and lots of Yanmar parts were not the same as the Yanmar JD counterparts.
Best of luck on your repairs!

I used to have a John Deere 950 tractor with a Yanmar engine and when I couldn't get parts from the local dealer quickly enough, I bought Yanmar parts online, they worked fine.

It’s on another forum someone is rebuilding a similar engine. In his case he bought it knowing it had problems and had a badly seized crank. He is having problems getting the correct crank. The used one he got went in but the pistons ended up sticking up above the deck a little bit. My point is there are some variations on these engines. I’m pretty sure it’s an all Yanmar engine also.
Back in the day, I worked at a shop that repaired crankshafts of many types. Big ones, medium sized ones and HUGE ones (for Metal Stamping machines).

The problem will be if the crank is bent. If it is, I don't know if anything can be done. If it isn't, it shouldn't be a problem to weld it up and re-grind it to specs. I operated the grinder, not the welder so there's that.

The shop would sometimes even chrome the journals. Industrial Chrome, not Bright Chrome. That was fun to grind.

I had an older Deere SCUT one time and the parts were usually available but you didn't want to pay the price for them.

Otherwise, look in a junkyard. Good luck there. The parts are in such demand, they get snapped up before they even hit the market. But maybe you'll get lucky. Don't know until you try.
