First post though I have been reading a lot for a couple years now. Looking for input from those of you with seat time. My home resides on 30 acres and the property is 90% wooded and is rolling throughout. Two years of mowing up by the house with a 38" decked jd just isn't going to cut it another year. Plus, I have to stop imagining all the great things I can do out there and actually get out there and get busy. So, I have a Jd 2032r on order without a firm commitment; dealer did not ask for any commitment, just placed the order. It has been on order for over a month and the dealer called yesterday, the day it was supposed to arrive, and advised of the new date of 3/18. This wait time has certainly allowed me to question if the tractor will be enough. I don't care for the jd 3e models due to no quick detach fel. Am I making a mistake to stay with the 2032r or is a kubota l3800 a better choice? I plan to brush cut, till and do some light fel work. Not need for mid pto for me. The l3800 is more hp and a heavier unit which is good. The one thing I do not like about kubota is the treadle and brake on same side and it's not green. Ok. I said too much already. Stick with the 2032r or go with l3800? Thanks.

Deere and Kubota make great tractors. Have you drove both? Decide which one feels better for you. I prefer the separate peddle and the ergonomics of my deere over the other brands tested. Not bashing other brands but the deere just felt good for me. Have you considered the 3320? How much is the deere that you are looking at?

I don't even consider those 2 tractors in the same league. The L3800 is way more tractor. Hard to believe the dealer ordered this tractor without a commitment, his mistake I guess.

What does he have on his lot?

Thanks for the input guys. Little risk for the dealer as he would like to have inventory but can only get one in with a customer order behind it. With incentives on the l3800 it's a dead heat on pricing with 2032r (both hst and r4 with fel) and that's the reason for my wavering. More tractor for the same price.

I did run to the kubota dealer today and also obtained a quote for the jd 3033r. Wow on the 3033r; a good $9 grand more than the 2032r and therefor out of consideration.

Btw, I did test drive a 2720 and a l3200 last year so I have a feel for each unit. Today I was wondering if the l3800 would grab me and it didn't. I just really like the break on the left with the Jd's and I think it will really come in handy on my hilly property.

So, time to stop second guessing and wait for my 2032r to arrive. Thanks again.

Yeah, up until delivery its "what if" or "maybe I should".

Once you have it you'll be happy with it and not look back.

Except to say "why didn't I do this years ago"? :D

I think you will be happy you waited. Plus you get a free JD owners cap. That right there is worth the wait. Who the **** wants an orange cap?

I don't know, those orange caps are pretty nice!

Well you don't want a green one, looks like someone puked on your head. and it won't go with a Orange machine.:D

I guess I will hang my ***** out here in the breeze.I own 2006 Kubota RTV 900 UTV,2011 John deere X740 diesel garden tractor, and 2012 Dk40 HST Kioti tractor. You can tell from what I own and operate that I am not one sided of what I choose in equipment.IMHO,I would look at Kioti tractors.I would also call Michigan Iron & equipment in morrice MI.Ask for Bob piro (owner),he can help with the correct tractor to purchase

You can have my green cap, I don't wear it anyway. I wish I could sell it or trade it for some diesel fuel.

I have the 2720 and it's great. I don't know how much different the 2032 is aside from the new pollution controls but it looks like the weight stayed the same. The Kubota is quite a bit heavier which would be a deal breaker for some who want the added weight, but if you're just doing light FEL work like I do you'll like your tractor. It's very maneuverable in the dense woods, which is the majority of my 2.5 acre lot, and it doesn't trench the lawn as bad as a heavier tractor might. Dozens of 80-foot pine trees that die, fall over, or drop branches every year keep my PTO chipper busy but I don't mow or till anything with it. I don't know how this size CUT is with tilling and brush cutting so I'll defer to the experts. The Kubotas are nice tractors but I don't like the treadle. I like the JD pedals and the layout of the operator station overall.

I have a friend who grew up on a farm and all they used were Case machines. They hated JDs and said they were painted green so they'd blend in when they were abandoned in the hedge row. Sorry all you JD owners. If a Kubota guy uses that one on you just say his looks like a traffic cone or something.

Good luck with your new tractor. It's a great privilege to have a machine that's capable of doing so much around your property when you need it.

Between the two you mentioned I would go with the Kubota since you would get a heavier, more powerful tractor for the same money. However like others have said go drive as many brands as you have local and make a decision based on which one you like best, is most capable, priced best, fits your needs best. The color of the machine really isn't important and in the end only you have to be happy with it.

like the other guys said, it just depends on what you are going to use it for. We have two smaller john deere tractors where I work and they are great for what we do with them. My Kubota that I have at home is bigger but then I use it for different things than we do at work. All nice tractors.
