Hello folks, My neighbor has a John Deere tractor 2010 ( I think he said it is a 1963) and I am trying to help him work out several issues he is having with it.

Alternator isn't charging battery. He installed a new alternator and it has a new battery. I was hoping somebody might have a schematic / wiring diagram for this tractor...and or a photo of what is actually connected to the alternator (or in my case maybe, what is not connected.)

I found a sensor in the lower part of the block, near the alternator, that has no wire connected to it. I am assuming it is the oil pressure sensor and was hoping someone could confirm that.

The diesel tank appears to be leaking. I degreased the tractor and can tell there is a leak coming from up high, somewhere on or next to the tank. I would like to know if there happens to be a trouble spot on these models that I should be looking for?

What does it take to get the hood/cover off of this thing?!

Lastly, are there any sites you guys can recommend I can look to find replacement parts?

Thank you!

Pictures would help us understand what parts are on your tractor.
For example was the new alternator a GM one. That is the common one to replace more expensive OEM ones from the factory.

No factory wiring schematic will be available for a 2010 with an alternator as they only came from factory with a generator. Oil pressure sender switch is parts key 37

Thanks JIM!! That surely helps. You wouldn't happen to have one of those schematics for the fuel tank/fuel system, would you? ;)

What exactly type schematic do you need for fuel system. You can view it at JDparts.com.

IMG_0104.JPG-1.jpeg Ok, here is a pic of the alternator. I am assuming it is missing a ground? What size cable does it need to be?

There is a plug on the top of the alternator that is broken. Only one wire goes into it, in the 1 R terminal. The 2 F terminal is empty...should something be there?

The positive lug: there is a big cable, presumably going to the battery positive...where *should* the small wire be connected to?

Thanks for everyones assistance.

Thanks for the link. I went to the site....is this tractor supposed to have a Positive ground?...will that be changed (backwards) if it has a newer alternator rather then the old generator?

Seems like all the gauges need replacing in the dash, can these be replaced with simple automotive style gauges?

2010 came from factory positive ground on elect system but most 12 volt alt are negative ground so my guess is 2010 has been changed to negative ground.
