Thank you all who have responded.
I guess I was not very clear regarding the results I'm looking for.

I would like to have one pass leave multiple furrows (trenches). In other words if the implement was 4 feet wide and spacing was 6 inches, I would have 9 furrors after each pass, or 7 if spacing was 8 inches.

Ken, what is the name of the implement you have pictured?

Thanks again to everyone that has answered and those yet to answer.

After the rain we just had, "it is too wet to plough".

The plow Ken showed is what my neighbor called a "chisel plow". He had a bigger, heavier one that was a pull behind (raise and lower hydraulically) instead of a 3-point; 2 inch wide chisel points spaced 12" apart and he used it in the pastures (including mine). It supposedly served the same purpose as aerators on your lawn, allowing air and moisture down into the ground.

Hi--The Mfgr calls it a "Field Cultivator" locals call them rippers or shank tillers--they dont go as deep as a chisel plow--These machines have variable spacing in width and 4 bolts removed will drop off a complete shank assembly--Used are usually available under $375 and new 9 shank models $675--Ken Sweet

The field cultivator that Ken showed is what almost everyone uses in this area instead of a disc harrow. It does a much better job in heavy rocks than a disc. I orders a wide bedder point from my dealer not long ago and it was about $12.

Hello Jerry--This tool is also what most area tobacco growers use to work the soil, just before transplanting. Works the soil a lot deeper that a disc harrow and with less compaction, which is a killer for tobacco seedlings.--Ken Sweet
