Hello folks, recently my better half and I have been doing some soul searching and future planning and it has become apparent to us that the area we were born and raised in is not the place to raise a family and own a large property in. I've been looking closely at Tennessee and have found some very appealing properties. My question is,is my 3320 enough to handle a 50-100 acre property? I currently only have an acre and realize I don't need a 3320 for it but I bought with intention of building a home here in CT. I was planning on buying as much acreage as I could afford. But this area of the country just is going to h*ll in a hand basket and the cost of living is just insane. With the 3320 will I be able to mow say 35 acres? And am I going to kill the tractor with that much regular use? All input will be greatly appreciated on the tractor of areas to consider relocating to.

You won't kill the tractor, but you'll be racking up a lot of seat time. In other words, you'll probably spend more time on the tractor then you'll want to.

Once you've found a property...then you can make a better determination. It's quite likely you'd take a heck of a hit (moneywise) if you traded or sold now. Heck, you might find a 10-12 acre spread that is your dreamland...and would fit the 3320 nicely.

Matt:

I think the 3320 would be quite appropriate unless you are going to be plowing or haying a large portion of the acreage.

Matt,

I think you would be fine. The neighbor I have mentioned some in others post who currently has a 4320 and formerly had a 4410 mid frame, just like ours, used his 4410 for EVERYTHING and had thousands of hours on it before trading it in. Some of the land clearing, etc. he did defies logic. He used his tractor for excavating, mowing, loader work, box blade work and road patching. It did fine, and he says, was almost as fast doing it as his currentl 4320. He is not big into maintenence, but said he simply wanted a new tractor before he wore his out. I would say your 3320 would be just fine. You will tire before it does. Hope this helps a little.

Come on down to TN. I live on a 2.6 acre lot now and have a 3520. We also have 35 acres that we plan to move to once our house sells. We have a lot to do on it, including building a lake. No income tax down here, and more conservative values. Dont blame you for wanting out of the NE. You wont need a snowblower here either.

I noticed the utility tractors aren't a lot more than these cuts. I think I'd get an lx6 or the frontier version. I don't think I'll be doing an chores that the 3320 can't handle except the mowing. Not that the 3320 can't but mowing lots of acres takes time. Maybe I should look in to buying an old high hp tractor just for mowing.

Buy the property first, Matt...then you can make a reasonable decision...

You can even use it to clear a wooded lot. 1a.jpg
I see my 3520 doing everything I need it to except significant tillage or crop production. At that point I would still want the CUT for most tasks and dedicate a larger tractor to the field efforts. I can't see ever needing a bigger loader or backhoe with our current plans. By the way, our house in CT is for sale.

As RoyJackson said, buy the property first, get the lay of the land and see what really needs to be done. My next door neighbor has a similar tractor (if not the same) and 100 acres, woods and field and although he talks about sometimes needing a bigger one he does some amazing stuff with his. I wouldn’t buy the tractor without knowing of the work that you need to do. My .0002. Good luck and head to the country!:D

I should point out I'm well aware of what the machine will do. It's extremely capable. The 448 hoe is great and I have absolutly no complaints on it. But the property I've been considering is flat with huge fields and little to no tree's. The pics I've seen have large round bales in the front field. I know I don't want to do my own haying. I do however what to get belgians so I was hoping to strike a deal with a local for square bales. I know the 3320 can handle the majority of tasks with easy. I'm mostly concerned with the mowing. Toulemme where in CT? Where's the land you've been posting on?
