Ive got a Landpride rcd 1884 rotory cutter that uses just two gear boxes to run the twin blade system. the problem is they are timed and rotate the same direction unlike most twin spindle mowers that counter rotate this one goes the same direction. This mower cant seem to unload the cut grass fast enough to mow tall grass without the left side blade and stump jumper getting all bound up with grass from the right side cutter.
I want to know if its possible to open up the gear box on the right side and move the Pinion gear to the oposite side and cause it to reverse its dirrection to make it a counter rotating mower.??

probably not. If the gears are strait bevel gears it might work, in theory.
But you would need to have room in the case to move the gear to.

If the gears are helical cut, or hypoid, then no, can't be done.

well let this be a warning for others dont buy a dual gear bush hog unless it has a center splitter box and the blades counter rotate. This was an expensive lesson for me. I might go back to a single gear 7' mower.
