I have run this cutter since 2016. yesterday I hit a log buried in the grass. Right away the mower began to shutter and vibrate the whole tractor after resetting. At first I thought I had something underneath the cutter which would spin out. That was not the case. On closer inspection, the shield at the gear box had come loose and the drive appeared to be a little more exposed as it may have pulled away from the gear box. I have not had to work on the mower before and looking for thoughts from those who have. Isn't there a shear pin in the shaft? If it sheared, I am thinking the drive shaft has pulled back and may be causing the massive shutter. I did not have time yesterday to pull it apart and wanted to tap the vast knowledge here on possible causes or potential problems. The gear box did look intact and underneath was solid. Appreciate any comments

I'm sorry but the best way to find a problem is to look at the piece of equipment. We can only guess from here.

It is a prety simple system with a single drive shaft and gear box.

You've likely knocked a blade around to where it is wedged on to the stump jumper. Raise the machine and take a look. If so, put a jackstand or a stump under the edge of the deck for safety, then crawl under it with a hand sledge and a can of PB Blaster. Soak the area around the blade bolt witht he penetrating oil, then use the hammer to loosen it and get it back into a balanced position. Those blades need to swing freely, so check both while you are under it.
