We have been on a trip in Ireland the last couple days. From today is a picture of Kylemorre Abbey. It was a rich Englishmen’s house finished in 1871 and is now a part of the Catholic Church. The second is Parkes Castle and last is an Irish Pub that’s been in the same family for 5 generations and as I recall is over 250 years old.

Ireland and Scotland are so underrated. I absolutely love those two places.

I'm seriously considering buying a small cottage with some land in Scotland for retirement. Not to do full time, but a good month there a year would be nice.

We looked at Scotland also but decided to do just one. Someone I worked with had been to both and I asked which was better and he said Ireland but that it’s tough to pick one over the other.

Ireland is a beautiful country and should be appreciated. We will return with a better camera and return to the many castles, ring of Kerry, cliffs if Moher and the green pastures with the old churches.

A couple of more pictures. We visited a town called Derry. The first picture is from a town called Derry and the picture is a building that looks like a church but is city hall. The second is inside city hall in what looks like a banquet hall and is a huge pipe organ that is all painted up.

The last couple are Giant Causeway. It it a group of hundreds stacked hexagon shaped rock. This is in Northern Ireland and extends across the narrow channel to Scotland where they have identical formations.

Great pictures!!!!!

Did you book a tour, or are you on your own?
We booked a tour through GLOBUS. We are with a group of about 33 people.

A couple from today. We are in Belfast. You get a feel for the past strife and conflict.
This is the Titanic museum which is located where its hull was launched.

The next two are from Belfast city hall. They have very nice city halls, nothing like in the US.

A couple more. The king or queens official residence when visiting Northern Ireland. A lot of artwork inside we couldn’t photograph.

The last is an old castle in Carlingford, back in the Republic of Ireland. The boat in the foreground is on mud at low tide.

Great photos, but in the first pub picture, what's with the Heineken sign? It should be Guinness.

We tour the Guinness brewery tonight and have dinner there. I’ll ask them how they allow Heineken signs and beer here. I’ve heard the Guinness is better here and I think it is. Their accent is great and it’s funny I heard someone say Americans accent is great to the Irish people.

We did a tour of Dublin today. The first couple of pictures are St. Patrick’s cathedral. The last are the bay at Dublin that our hotel is close to.

I'm not sure Guinness travels well. I don't care for it here in the US but I really liked it in Ireland. Maybe it's just the atmosphere. I've had the same experience with Italian wine. Even the cheapest wine is great when you are in Italy.

I would say the food is good but not necessarily anything that special. I think the breakfast is good but about like you get in the US. I’d say the pub food has been the best.

We saw the Guinness brewery tonight and had a meal there. They don’t make beer there anymore but some place outside of Dublin. It’s a very popular place. I’ve always liked Guinness but I can’t say it my favorite.
