I will be picking up a 244 with loader Monday. It has a few issues, but nothing I can't handle. The question I have is on a hydraulic filter. Several sites show a spin on hydraulic filter, but the CaseIH part site shows a "strainer" not a filter. Anyone have a 244 that can confirm one or the other is used? I would like to do a fluids change once I get it.

I have never owned an IH244 but it is a Mitsubishi made tractor and is basically the same machine as a Mitsubishi MT180/ MTE1800....those models I'm familiar with. I have only seen a strainer on the 180/1800's. Unless it has an aftermarket filter kit that was adapted, I feel pretty sure it will only have a strainer.

Excellent little tractors, very durable and reliable. I have owned a Mitsubishi MTE2000D (shares a lot of parts with the 244 and is almost identical to the 244's big brother, the IH 254/255) for 12 years and it has been a true workhorse. Most parts are still available and from my experience, it is often cheaper to buy parts for the "Mitsubishi models" than the factory Case IH counterpart.

Darryl, Thanks for the reply. If it has a strainer, then all that should need to be done is remove the strainer and clean it. It doesn't need to be replaced. This one appears to need new injectors. It has fuel in the oil. That's the story anyway. I will drive 5 hours one way to get it. Yeah, CaseIH wants over $250 for injectors. Cub Cadet wants over $160. Spencer Diesel has rebuilds with a 1 year warranty for just over $60 with a $60 core charge. It has a KMW model 95 loader on it and under 300 hours. It was cheaper to buy this than buy a loader to fit my John Deere 332.

Well, I picked up the 244 today. Instead of an early 1982 it is a 1986 by it's serial number, 10916. That also makes it a Case IH not an International for the purists. I had to winch it on the trailer. I am willing to bet it has water in the fuel. I am going to remove and clean the tank, replace the fuel filter, fill with fresh fuel and bleed the lines. We'll see if that lets it start.
