Brandi, a Rokon is a very ugly 2 wheel drive motorcycle (actually called a mototractor). It's useful for this type of stuff because it is agile. Mine looks like this one. I just pulled the picture off the Internet. Has a good bit of torque out of a very small engine. Rokon.jpg

Okay, Thanks! My brother and I had a single wheel bike something like that. It was called a Booney Bike. Really an oversize minibike with a torque converter and gear reductionand huge tires. It could climb straight up. But it was slow.

I like the hog on the back of the Rokon; reminds me of a picture I took 40 some years ago in Taegu ( now Daegu ) South Korea.
It was common practice back then to bring a live pig to market by getting it totally wiped out, drunk with alcohol and
tying it on a 2 wheel bicycle to ride to town. The one I photographed woke up prematurely and caused a wreck.

Yes, I really bought the Rokon for it's primary use to me of taking it to Colorado on semi-annual elk and mule deer hunts. It is legal to take on the old pack mule trails where only 2 wheeled machines are allowed and with it being both wheel drive, it can go up and over deadfall pretty easily. This thing will climb a tree. It is rated for 60 degree climbs and I've done it. At 60 degrees you're basically hanging from the handle bars like Superman and hoping the front wheel stays down. It has 3 gears, one for low speed and torque, one zero to medium, and one zero to high speed (which isn't very fast; maybe 30mph down hill). It is touted to haul 1,000 lbs and tow 3,000 with it's rigid frame, but you wouldn't be able to tow 3,000 up a moderate hill, but it should help me haul out elk quarters pretty easily. Around home I usually only use it for stuff like pulling the drag tine harrows to prep for grass, towing my "big hog" mulch/dirt trailer around (which is no longer used since I have a real tractor with FEL), and giving my daughter's rides when it snows here just for playing around.

I started moving dirt for the bulkhead today. After that, I took the bucket and thumb off the BH and installed the auger. So tomorrow, I will put in the posts with concrete. Since I was on the tractor moving dirt...........I let Booger out of his hospital room for some R&R.

I got 6 posts put in today. 4 more posts to go. The water level is about 2 feet below the posts. I augered down 3 feet, then put the posts in and rammed them down another foot with the FEL. They were pretty solid before adding concrete. Gotta work tomorrow night for Christmas time off, so I'll be back at it next Friday.

Rokon Trail Breakers have been around since the 60's. They restored an early one on American Restoration but must have to put a different style tire on it. You can carry extra gas or water in the wheels!

Every time I see pics of your auger, I think how much I want one just like it!!!! That really is the best setup I've ever seen.

Eddie,
Thanks Eddie. It's really the cat's meow. I can poke holes where 3Ph and front loader augers can't go. I never liked 3PH rental PTO drive units I rented. I can put unlimited down pressure with this setup, to the point of taking weight off of the rear tires. Hard pan dried out clay is not a problem with it.
