Front-End Loader Installing a toothbar

-------------- I see no reason to ever take it off, if I want to smooth things I use the heel of the bucket.-----------

I also use the heel but would suggest you add a wear strip or even a length of angle stock as you might just find out later that the bucket heel is worn thin and possibly even holed.

Thanks one and all for the advice.

A couple of things. I mistyped my bucket, it is 70 1/2 not 71 1/2. In order for me to shorten the bar that much I would either have to have cut the bar itself, or remove a tooth and reweld it, and the tabs that bolt too it.

Since there is more than one way to skin a cat I called the parts department at the dealer, and explained everything. They said as long as I was willing to wait and not express ship they would swap it at no charge. If I needed it right away I would have to pay the shipping.

This also worked out well for them. Yesterday they called me to let me know the bar would be in Tuesday of next week. They also asked a favor. Seems customer had to have a toothbar this weekend and luck would have it, he needed the bar I had. So they asked if I could bring the bar up ASAP. They had no trucks near where I live and they know I live about 30 miles away. When I got there they were so happy they gave me $50.00 for gas money.

Hopefully I will have the correct bar sometime next week.
