Depends on how much draft you have. I have a Tarm Solo 40 in my garage, it smokes a little when I open the door in certain weather conditions. I wouldn't want it in my living room but it doesn't bother me in the garage.

I'm currently building a 24X24 garage to eventually hold a boiler from which to pump heat to the houses on the property. I assume there'll be lots of waste heat to keep the garage cozy.

Is there a good website to check out on the topic of sizing?

The plan is to try a year with a box stove first (6" flue), then buy a boiler if we like the wood-heat experience. What size of flue does your Tharm take?

I have a eko 60 in my barn and I would never put one in my house. They smoke real bad when you open the door and also very messy with flyash. The biomass boilers have a draft fan that helps .
