The bushings that slide on the hitch pins (I think that's what you call them?) and are kept from sliding off by a key of various sorts work good. I have been using them for a while. Occasionaly I pop a key (what do you call them?) out and lose it. Or my aim is bad and I mangle one.
Plus, the bushing are really just a patch.
So I saw a pic of these pins that had no key and had a shoulder. I thought, yep, that's the ticket, and went looking. And looking. Every time feeling like I was speaking Japanse to my dealer or some place on the phone. "No, not a bushing!".
As it turns out, they really are bushings /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I thought they replaced the origin pins. ooops

I went to this other dealer and picked up two sets of the real authentic JD deal. We went from the new design bushings, to the older, wider design, and finally after some crashing around in the back I get what I would have thought to be a very common part. I guess not! But, he tried like heck and got me what I needed. Bravo. It's a drive, but worth it, you know?

For the record:
JD part number for bushings that really aren't:

I installed a set on my MX5 in about 3 minutes with a hammer and a beer.

for an online source Northern Tool has the kit for $17.95. It is just the bottom bushings and roll pins. They are the bushings with the step machined, I bought my first set from JD the rest came from Northern for half the price.

How did you figure out what to buy from that description ?
No pics and the description says it can be used with another product so popular that they no longer sell it /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif ( mmmkay )
Do you have a pic of this part? I still will need one more set. I wouldn't mind saving $15!

To help future searchers:
Many pieces of JD literature will direct you to JD part number LVU12858 for I-match / quick hitch bushings.
These are junk. They are very short (1.26") and will slide back and forth on the pins, which are much longer. They require the snap rings (still searching for the proper terminology for these things) to keep them on. These are not the units pictured in quite a few marketing pieces from JD.

Pic of LVU12858 from JDParts attached.
Dimensions of A, B, C in pic:
A: .892"
B: 1.435"
C: 1.26"

Just out of curiosity does anyone know why i-match and all its clones were made to use bushings and adaptors???

Why didn't they just make them to fit the standard pins?

I'm sure there is a simple explainantion besides making us spend more money on these bushings.

Don't know the reasoning. Would be interesting, and would have saved a lot of discussion about bushings. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
