Comparison IH Super A steering gears

Has any one ever repaired the play in the steering gearbox on a Farmall SA or A? Mine has excessive play and I want to fix it. Is the only option to replace both the worm and arc gear? Or can the be adjusted by shimming?

Go to ytmag.com and search the farmall forum. Sloppy stearing is a very common Super A problem.
