My current mailbox is plastic and I'm tired of my mail being water soaked after a rain storm. Not sure where the water is getting in so I'm just going to replace it. Do any of you have suggestions as to a good water tight mailbox maybe a locking version?

Thanks
Randy

I would not worry about it. The Post Office will probably be out of business like everything else in this country soon or the mail delivery will be out sourced and they will want a special type of mailbox!

We just replaced our broken metal mailbox with one of these from Rubbermaid.

Hamilton Mailbox | Rubbermaid

It was only $13.00 at Lowe's. We've had it for about a month and we have had rain about every other day and no wet mail so far.

I use to sell these, still have a few but shipping will kill you as they weigh about 70lbs. You can get them unpainted or painted, we even offered power coating.
Might find a dealer in your area. Mine has been up for years, no leaks
Good luck

Moss...We bought ours at Lowes as well. It was similar to yours except it came with a plastic fiber post as well and it has been out there for 5 yrs. with no problems. There is a door on the backside of the mailbox as well so you don't have to go out to the street and open the front and it also has a slot below the mailbox for a newpaper delivery.

We bought this on since we are on a rural road and did not know if we would have a vandalisim problem with kids trying to destroy the mailbox from their cars with a bat and also to eliminate maintenace on the metal ones. So far no one has struck it with a bat or if they did it had no affect. I reccomend ours or yours over metal.

These are $50 at TSC. They're indestructible and don't leak.

Here's my best mailbox tip. When you install the mailbox on the post, put the front lip down 1" below the back of the box. That way, if the door leaks, the water runs right back out instead of flowing through the box to the back. Of course, if the back of the box leaks. . .well, you know.:D

if the back leaks get som clear silicone or the color of the box and fix it. Good tip though!!
