Tractor
L3830 HST/ford 1910/case 315
Had big plans for my day off....mow the lawn, set some fenceposts, repair old bushhog, etc.....had a big to do list...got nowhere.....why? dealer decided to deliver the 3830 early this am rather than late pm....had to scrap all my plans and DRIVE MY TRACTOR......delivery man went all through the machine with me...great job......my first job was to move it out of the way of the delivery truck.....what a poor first impression....way underpowered.....seemed like it had a dog for a motor.....wait....parking brake is on!....all is well...
what a great machine.....came w/ woods bb72 cutter....
took me 3 hours to cut what used to take 8.....handeld the cutter well with power to spare......the HST is such a GREAT way to go.....easy to back up under trees, stop short of obstacles, and vary speed to terrain.....wish I bought one of these 5 years ago........was a little too eager to cut, tops of knees and neck got a little sunburn today.....I think this is the second day over 80 degrees here so far this year....yeah a hot one.........kept rpm/s around 2200...pto about 460....seemed a comfortable place to be......
My 3 year old girl recently was up to 3 ponys in the barn..have her down to one.....need to do the same with tractors......three on site now, need just one....
the 723 loader is most impressive...loaded up my flatbed w/ a few scoops from the manure pile.........had to cut the day short and take care of the kids.....
The tractor is really comfortbable to operate, handles as well as my Silverado and is relatively quiet compared to the old crew. I definatley made the right decision w/ the 3830 and six foot cutter........ /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif guess I need to update my profile now........

Congratulations on the new tractor!!! Sounds like a real sweet machine.

Oh...that probably won't be the last time you forget to release the parking brake.

And isn't New England weather great this year? Rain, rain, rain, sun, rain, forecast for rain...but the sun is out, then forecast for sun..but it rains...unbelievable. One of our local farmers is thinking about turning his whole crop under and planting rice. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Enjoy your tractor. That sure is one heck of a machine.

OK, is this parking brake a newbie thing or what??? I got my new B7800 off the truck yesterday, parked it in front of the barn to take the snapshots for my post to this site. Then backed it in the barn . . . with the parking brake on! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I hope I don't do that too often. Wish there was an idiot light on the panel for this idiot!

You know the sad thing is, the Grand L Series DOES have an idiot light for the parking brake! Duh! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I agree with the problem with the 7800 and the parking brake. I now have 23 hours and have finally remembered to release the brake and pick up the bucket before I start moving. For me it is a newbie thing.

Best of luck with the new machine. My wife and I were sitting outside and she said the back yard looks like a park. That Bush Hog RFM does a great job and talk about durable! I've hit some old stumps without a hitch. I also ran over a 4" black locust log - worked like a wood splitter and had myself some nice firewood - I would not recommend this often.

Good Luck, Frank D

Among Tractor Owners, there are those who have driven with the parking brake on -- those who are going to drive with the parking brake on -- and those who are going to do it AGAIN! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Unfortunately, it seems most parking brakes don't work as well as they should, and sometimes you can drive quite aways before you realize the brake is on -- been there, done that /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

reminds me of an outboard I bought once....bought a new
honda 4-stroke 25hp I put on this little Boston Whaler...when I bought the motor dealer told me I would need to pay him $5 for every time I tried to start the motor while is was already running....(honda 4 strokes are whisper quiet)......I ran if for one season before moving on to a bigger boat....figure I owe him at least $60...........

Hi Scott,

Since I'm still deciding between 3130 HST and 3830 HST would you share why you went with the 3830? Also would you say what it cost? I think my dealer, while friendly and helpful is high at $22,000 for 3830HST and FEL.

thanks,
Slim
