I Changed the Battery in My 3510 Today

Dealer just said MT-34 supposedly an Interstate number.
Not too sure about the dealer though, since Century went down they hung onto Branson for a while, then skipped to McCormick and Tym.
Off the cuff, top o' the head answers.
The old battery is out with markings I don't understand (a character set that isn't Western ISO)
The only alpha numeric characters I recognize says it is a Rocket 80-33FR-MF or Global 1000R
Having trouble cross referencing that to a group code.

Measure the physical size (length, width, and height) of your current battery.
Then go to a Walmart, and buy their best battery that meets your dimensions.

Thanks, that IS my normal M.O.
I just thought I would do the pre shopping on-line, armed with specs., etc.
Height is likely the most critical dimension due to the hold down clamp, naturally I don't want to have to leave that out.

8 1/8" high, 12 3/4" long, 6 1/2" wide.
Looking across it from the front of the tractor the long side farthest from you has the post terminals with the +'ve on the right.
{For future reference, etc.}
Yes, I know, vehicle references are usually made from facing forward point of view.

That turned out to be a BCI group 27 equivalent (Big ***** battery) and the Walmart Maxx one was $101.xx
OK, so I got it in and the hold down clamp fouls the vent caps.
The original one was sealed maintenance free and therefore flush across the top.
I'm about to cut the hold down clamp to fit in between the vent caps.
I don't want to run around without a hold down on the battery, tractors tip a bit too much for that.

I had to modify the hold down on my Ford 3400 TLB also.
A minor, but very worthwhile modification, for a high cranking amps battery, at a good price.

I'm all done with this, at least until the weather improves.

For PERFECTION there is a very small modification that I will suggest for anyone putting a BCI Group 27 battery in a tractor similar to mine, e.g. Kukje large frame from mid 200x years.
The battery "shelf" has a couple of little "L" shaped battery retainers/guides - and I mean LITTLE.
They are low, maybe less than an inch high and not much more than that along each leg of the "L".
The MINOR problem with a BCI Group 27 battery in this space is that if you push it all the way left it can slip out of the retainer/guide on the right - similarly with the battery all the way to the right it can slip out of the retainer on the left.
I centered the battery, clamped it and left it at that.
An (almost) worthwhile modification would be to fit a length of something between those two L shaped retainers, perhaps a length of angle iron, flat steel about 1/8 x 3/4 or small diameter pvc pipe.
I probably won't bother, but others might think it worth it.
I didn't have any suitable material hanging around at the time, YMMV, etc.

It's that time again!
After exactly 7 years I am replacing my battery.
I had to google to find the size and guess what thread popped up? Mine!
Went to Rural King and they had a Exide group 31 battery on sale for $59.99
Now it cranks like new again!

That is a great price! Even better than what you paid 7 years ago.

So how do you like your 3510 after 15 years of use?
