I Changed the Battery in My 3510 Today

Reg, I bought a tow truck a few years ago and it had a fancy electrical port to use for jump starting cars. Very cool set up as it will not allow you to hook it up backwards (at least on that end!) and the final connection is made away from the dead battery, so much less risk of explosion. And the loose cable ends can't touch and arc as you have no loose cable ends on the one end. It's just a good deal all the way around. A little pricey though.

I liked the idea so much that I have one mounted to the bumper on my F350 and also one stuffed behind the grill bars on my Jeep. They go by color for amperage. You ought to buy that sort of setup and finish up your project.

OK, I did NOT replace my battery last year, and it survived another Colorado winter - albeit a mild one. Although the battery cat's eye is still green, I don't dare another winter!! I've been searching for a replacement. Nearest I can determine, the OEM is a group 30H. Haven't found a source yet! Nearby auto parts store had a gp 31 - close, but !@#$%^&* it's too tall for the hold down bracket, and the terminals are center line vs one edge.

Can anyone tell me what group size and brand they have successfully used to replace this battery? I searched on-line for the make/model/numbers on the OEM. Found company listings in Korea & Singapore, but the only application for this specific battery is for a Kia Sorento, sold in Australia and Asia, with a 2.5L Diesel engine - apparently not sold in the US.

Thanx

I had a gel cell battery in my previous tractor that I replaced after eleven years. It still started the tractor OK but I sure don't want to get stuck anywhere with a dead battery. Battery on my new tractor is group 31 and would be very easy to replace. Its right up front and out in the open. BTW - eight years on an OEM unit is very good.

Measure your battery and go to a website that sells OPTIMA batteries. You'll never have to worry about vibration causing loose caps and leaking acid into your battery compartment.

If you are looking for AGM(absorption glass mat) batteries - Odyssey is another good brand. I have a group 31 Odyssey in my Kubota - It has 2150 cca(cold crank amps).

First measure the height, width & depth of your OEM battery. Google "battery group sizing" - - this will bring up all the various groups and the battery sizes that fit in each group. With the proper group number, you can then research by brand.

NAPA 7527 . It might be a 7527F for terminal placement. $117 with core deposit. Thank you for this very timely post. Saved me some effort. (And I was at 10 years @ 6600 ft elevation. I had never even seen the battery !!). Hope that helps

I've been off the forum for a long time and decided to get back on now that my Branson dealer went out of business. My 3510 just turned 13 and still has the original battery, but it is definitely weak at temps below 40. Looking for a replacement and found the NAPA 7527F for $120 locally. Is that battery still a good bet?

Along those lines, Dave, my truck has an underhood welder that uses quarter turn Tweco connectors for the welding cables. I got another couple of Tweco sockets and put them in my front bumper then connected them to into the winch cables running to the aux battery. Now I only have to carry my welding cables and can use them for heavy duty jumpers. It also makes it handy to connect a tender charger to keep the batteries up during prolong periods of non operation without even lifting the hood.

Decided to go ahead with the NAPA 7527 ($121 with core) and installed it today. Fitment was good and installation took less than 30 minutes. In the process I found a new dealer, but he is 2.5 hours away - better than the 3.5 hours I was looking at.

The biggest problem was having to work around the front bumper. It limits access to the front.
I went to TSC for the battery because they sell Exide Batteries.
Exide makes a great battery verses some of the Never Heard of Brands that the auto stores and discount stores sell.

I took a piece of 4x4xシ" box steel and made an extension for the grille guard mounting surface...aka front bumper. Works for me. With that moved forward, I have 2 QDs to undo and the 180 degree front grill comes right off with clear access to the batt, radiator, air cleaner and all.
