I have now at least 3 sets of fingerprints with various offices.

So do I (and lots of others), even when we were born in this country.

When I went to work for the U.S. Post Office in 1959, they fingerprinted me. Then when I went to work for the Dallas Police Department in 1964, they fingerprinted me. And when I went to the FBI National Academy in 1986, they fingerprinted me. There may even be another set or two floating around somewhere.

To the best of my knowledge, though, my DNA isn't on file anywhere yet.

That's why I haven't done it yet. I'm still not over the trauma of getting my Permanent Resident Status. I should do it though - need to get on the paperwork.

I know how proud you must feel. I saw the process first hand with my Mom. I heard of the process with my Dad. My dad came to this country during WWII sponsored by the church. He was one of 10k polish children "allowed" to relocate while the Communist Russians and **** Germans fought over Poland.

He went on to fight oppressive governments until he retired after a 30+ year career.

When I see others coming here from former east-bloc countries I feel especially proud knowing my own family roots. Here in this country we are truely blessed and everyone can contribute.

Welcome! Citizen! And through your own experiences, don't ever forget to tell us how lucky we really are.
