Hydro to CVT?

I'm not trying to argue either... But from what I have read and was told, Shibaura built many of the Ford-NH tractors in Japan for years. Similar to Yanmar building for JD. Shibaura recently sold tooling lines to Fiat/C-NH for the models they are now building in Mexico, though they sold the SCUT tooling to Daedong for Kioti's SCUT models.

Of course, don't take what I'm writing as gospel... This is only what I have read or have been told from other people during tractor conversations. I don't have direct knowledge on the matter to guarantee its' accuracy.

That's interesting... I looked at a brand new one a year or so ago, and the plate on the tractor (not loader) said made in Mexico (IIRC).

Maybe they changed the assembly location?

Yeah, they moved the CVT production to Mexico several years ago. 2011 I believe.

Picked up the 55 today. I didn't have time to do much other than drive it off the trailer. Should be able to get a little seat time tomorrow to get a better feel for it under real working conditions.

I'm on my 2nd CVT. 1st was a Farmall40 that I traded in with 950 hrs. I now have a Farmall 55 CVT with about 90 hrs. After having these 2 CVT's, I will never own another hydro.
farmall40, is the 55 the same size as the 40?

Yup, same tractor new drivetrain.

What has changed or been improved from the 40 to the 55? (cvt). Are they the same transmission?

New CVT, it's smoother and more efficient that before, It still works like the old one but much smoother, The 3 cylinder Fiat is a true powerhouse. It amazes me that when I put the bucket in the dirt, the RPM's don't drop and the tires keep digging.

That really does look like a nice tractor.....I've never run that CVT model though, although I'd like to...

Ok guys. Only got to spend about an hour on the tractor today using the FEL to move gravel and pull my landplane. All I can say is wow. I am absolutely floored at how smooth and quiet this tractor runs compared to my 45 hydro. There is so much good to say about this tractor so far. While its the same physical tractor and layout, moving from my 2008 - 45 to this new 55 is like jumping from an economy car to a luxury sedan. I'm going to hold off on saying much more for now until I can get several more hours of seat time. One of my frustrations in the decision was not being able to find any reviews on this tractor. I plan to write up a detailed review soon.
