I changed the hydro oil in the 2520 this weekend.
and i have to say the manual is worthless.
anyways I put 4 gal ran it around a little and could only see fluid at about 1/4 to 1/2 on the sight glass book said 3/4 or a bubble on top. so i added a half gal more and it seems to have filled the site glass.
i'm wonder if i over filled it.
how much did it take to fill yours?
I don't want to use it if it's over filled and hurt something.
THanks guys.

If it was a gallon or more I would drain some but what's probably only a quart or less over full I wouldn't worry about it.

I had the same problem with my 2320 and I have left it alone. Over-full does not seem to be a problem as long as it's not leaking back out the fill plug.

Is it a common sump machine? If so.. many can be overfilled to account for external hyds.

My NH 7610s can take about 3 gallons more in the sump than it needs for just the tractor.. etc.

Wouldn't worry... should be just fine.

I've noticed that whenever I dropped my FEL or the backhoe attachment (BH the most..)the hydro fluid levels would vary by a couple of quarts at least.

As long as the levels are in the "operating range" on the dipstick or sight glass - good to go.

Thanks for the help I'll use the tractor tonight and then recheck everything.
i'm sure it's just fine just such an expensive machine i don't want to mess it up.
Thanks again.

Raptor,

Mine came that way from the dealer, i.e., the sight glass was full and no bubble was visible. I ran it like that for the first year/50 hours, with no problems. I think I put back in the same amount you did (minus a little that was left in the final drives which I didn't drain because of the worthless manual...).

So, agree with those who say you're probably OK.

I am one of the ones that overfilled my 2320 until it was pouring out the fill hole waiting for the sight glass to fill up..

I ended up draining enough so that when running it disappeared out of the sight glass, but was in the sight glass when stopped...

BTW - Does anyone know if the JD Low viscosity Hy-Guard is a synthetic? I used Amsoil when i did my 50 hr change, because I thought it was the JD dino... Someone on 'bob is the oil guy' said that it was synthetic though..
