I think I overfilled the hydraulics on my JD 2305 after a hose broke and leaked hydraulic fluid all over the ground. I replaced the hose and estimated how much fluid was lost and filled it up. Now when it gets warm it starts leaking hydraulic fluid from somewhere. All of the hydraulics function just fine (FEL and backhoe, transmission....)
Question is there a pressure relief valve on the 2305 that would vent excess hydraulic fluid if it gets to full or the pressure to high?

I don't have a 2350 but you should have a dip stick or have a plug that you would pull when filling that will tell you when the level is right. Find your manual and it will tell you how to tell when your full.

I also don't have a 2305 but I'm guessing it is a closed system without a vent. Find the leak but first check your level and drain your excess.

:welcome:

As already mentioned, get the level correct. Often a little bit of oil looks like a lot when it is spilled. Easy to miss guess the amount.
But hopefully draining out oil to get the level correct will solve your leak problem. That would/could be expensive for the mistake.

You need a manual and need to use it.

Find the dip stick or full-plug and adjust your oil level by that, not by guessing.

The oil sump where the oil is stored is not pressurized, so extra oil won't work the way you are thinking. Most tractors use the same oil to lube the rear end gears, perhaps the tranny gears, and for the hydraulics. If you overfill it, the oil will be splashed around a lot more by the rear end gears. Perhaps start foaming, and will want to leak out of top vents, push through areas that normally don't get oil splashed on them, etc. If there is not enough room left for expansion, or if back-forth moving parts are now under oil, that can create problems.

Some tractors have 3 seperate compartments - rear end, tranny, hyd sump. Don't know about your tractor, do you? You mighta put the oil in the wrong compartment, now you are still short on one, and have extra in another.

Many possibilities.

You need a manual and you need to read it.

These are Deere here Paul. ;)
One fill, one drain.

No need to be rough with new members. I think jlandis is getting the help he needs with his question.

Hi All,

No worries, the 2305 has an overflow vent. Still, you'll want to drain off enough fluid to get the level visible in the sight glass at the rear. When you drain the fluid, spill it into a clean vessel so you can add some back in if necessary.
