On my NAA (and I think your 601 is the same) there is a little plate on top of the hdyraulic under the right front corner of the seat that is where you mount the valve for remote hydraulics. If you removed that plate and cranked it over I would think you should make a big oily mess if the pump is working. The plate is about 3 or 4 inches across and has a hump in the middle. I was just out and looked at our NAA. On it the hyd pump drives off the flywheel. On it you could disconnect the pressure line (small line) and see if it pumps out fluid.
