Kubota B2150
HELLO ALL: I have read this forum for three years, and it has been an invaluable source of information. I'm ready for a new tractor with loader and backhoe, and have some questions that are as yet unresolved (this will be a second tractor - keeping my B-2250. The new machine will be used in the mountains of Western North Carolina, and a primary goal is the most power (digging, etc.) in the least package (tight quarters, banks, etc.). A hydraulic thumb is HIGHLY desirable as primary uses will be clearing, wood handling, rock walls, etc. Can some of you help with comments on the following?

1. Looks like the only pure Kubota hydraulic thumb option is the B-26 (would like a little more loader power, and the fixed full canopy is definitely going to be in the way... anyone ever convert one of these to removable?).

2. The other thumb option that I have found is the WOODS BH-90X. What is the smallest Kubota that you could put one of these on?

I REALLY WOULD APPRECIATE ANY COMMENTS AND INPUT... AS THIS WILL BE A BIG PURCHASE FOR SOMEONE NEWLY "RETARDED"!!!

m59 has a hydraulic thumb.

Bh80x thumb looks pretty easily convertible to hydraulic, though a bit of fabbing would be involved. But not much.

I think the grand Ls are as small as you can go with the bh90x.

I have the Woods BH70-X, and one of my projects this summer is to convert the thumb to being hydralic. Hope to get around to it by the end of the month. Will post pics and info.

I would not remove the ROPS/FOPS canopy. It is a necessary safety device. I am not sure if you could get a smaller TLB with enough digging power. You could get a lot more power by going slightly larger, like the L39 or L48. I have noticed the Mahindra 511 backhoe's provides 5676# of bucket digging force and 3076# of dipper digging force with 11'-1" digging depth. You could mount that on a 4530 4WD. You could go with a 3510 4WD with a 509 backhoe. This has 2754# of dipper digging force. The Kubota's L39 bucket digging force is 5822# and the dipper digging force is 3779# with depth of 121". Neither the Mahindra nor Kubota L39 offer a hydrostat transmission or hydraulic thumb, then we are back to the B26 or the might M59 with thumb.
