Has anyone ever changed one of these without draining the trans first? Can it be done or do you drown in Hydraulic oil?
I just added 2 gal after repairing a broken loader hose, so I hate to replace it again.............

Yes, I would drain it. I think I would get new fluid but I would drain it before I messed with the filter.........Fluid is cheap compared to hydraulic repairs........

If this is your first time make sure you have the correct filter for it. Some look right and will even go on there correctly but if the mesh is too fine you may have problems. I tried a $10 NAPA hydraulic filter instead of the more expensive Yanmar filter and it would not work on the YM2620 that I had.

Thanks again, I had already bought a Yanmar filter from Hoye. I pretty much always use factory parts whenever they're available.
