Hi,

I have a 12 ton hydraulic press that I am trying to hook up to a hydraulic motor/pump. My question is: what psi hoses do i need? The pump will supply 24,000 psi to the hydraulic jack on the press. Does this mean I need a 24,000 psi hose? Almost all the hydraulic hoses I see are no more than 10,000 psi.

The company that sells the motor wants $250 for a 6ft length of 3/8 hose assembly. Sounds crazy expensive to me which is why i am looking around to see what i can find locally, but I am lacking the understanding of what psi hose i need.

Thanks in advance for any input you might have.

I don't know much about hydraulic pumps, maybe it actually runs at a lower psi but still is able to build up the pressure in the jack part of the press. The pump does have a pressure switch that has settings up to 12 ton and the press has a gauge that goes up to 12.

If are going to use that much psi, you need a bigger press. A 4" cyl with 2000psi well put out 25133lbs.or just a hair over the max of a 12ton press.

frontyardfarm,

I stock 10,000 psi Gates industrial jack hose (on a reel) in 1/4 and 3/8 id.......with factory crimp fittings

You need to check the max pressure of the pump and max rating of the cylinder, you may not need 10k hose
