I had an 18' Hudson with hydraulic tilt bed for several years 2003-2007. It was a good unit. If they are still made to the same quality it should be a good trailer. The only issue I ever had was the fuse would blow on the lift battery charging line (from the truck's 7 pin connector). The tilt would slow down as the battery got weaker. That was a common known issue with those trailers. Just had to replace that fuse now and then.

I have had two hudson trailers in the last 8 years. The first was a 5 ton metal deck tilt bed. I traded to a 6 ton tilt bed becasue the tail of the trailer was too low to the ground and rubbed on everything. My father bought a 5 ton with ramps and it has worked out great for him. I wish I had gotten a deck over since I haul pallets and other material which is loaded and unloaded with a forklight. I upgraded to a larger excavator and need to move up to a gooseneck trailer. My dealer did not have a Hudson in stock and said it would be 8-10 weeks before they would see one.

I would recommend them without hesitation.

Good luck,

Mike

Hudson is a quality manufacturer. They typically rate their trailers as 5 ton, 4 ton, 3 ton, etc...Those ratings are what they will haul. The GVWR is higher. They will price out comparable to a PJ or other higher end manufacturer. Difficult to find a used unit at a decent price.

I sold my 7T Hudson goose several months ago. I bought my new goose from Mike Moore Welding which is down the road from Hudson. He used to work for them. A lot happier with his work.
