I'm looking for an efficient way to distribute one ton rectangular bales for cattle feeding, similar to unrolling round bales. Any advise or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

These bales came from Kansas to Strawn, Texas for about $180 a ton, delilvered.

God's Country...Must be near La Crosse, Wisconsin. The birthplace of Heileman's Old Style beer, whihc is again being "kraeusened." Only a transplanted Cheesehead would know that! hehehe

Do they really weight a TON?

They certainly can. The last farm job I had years ago the dairy bought 4x4x8 bales of alfalfa in from Colorado. Beautiful hay grown under center pivot irrigation. The 48' flatbeds were stacked full except leaving room for one more bale because if they loaded the last one, they were overweight. There aren't many ways to package hay where you have to watch loaded weights, but that's one.

Well if you don't have several you need to feed, they fit nicely in the back of a pickup. Go out to where the cattle are and then just peel the "slices" off of it.

If this won't work for you let us know how many bales you are going to feed and how (on the ground, in troughs, do you want it ground and/or mixed with anything, ....)

Mis-placed cheesehead here also. We make a bunch of Big squares around here 2,000-2,300 LBS each. You can pull these aprt with alaoder as they have flakes.

I'm pissed about Old-Style. I like beer and like cheap beer beter. You can no longer get 30 boxes of Old Style and i is now more than coor's lite. Used to smuggles 30 boxes across the boarder every spring. Not this year.

Talked to the distributor and he said sales are down about 80 percent. Oh well time to start on Old Mil again
